Having come thus far, we need to take a look at some of the things that must not be mentioned in the life of every saint of Christ. In case you are in doubt of your status as a true believer, and therefore might be wondering who a saint is. I want you to understand that a saint is that man, that woman who has been redeemed from the the power of sin, and from the damnation of hell through the blood of Jesus Christ. That person who has yielded himself, herself totally to Jesus Christ and is now committed to walking with the Lord on the path of righteousness for the rest of his, her life, such a person is considered a saint; one of the holy ones.
For such believers who have attained this status, there are things; behaviours that should never be seen in their lives. We shall look at those things in this piece, one by one.

Thus far, for those who have been following my blog for sometime now, you would have discovered that the road that leads to heaven, the final and ultimate destination of every true believer, is not an easy road. It is rugged. It is full of challenges.
To travel successfully on this route to the end, we need to arm ourselves with more knowledge and more power so that we can be well and better equipped for this holy race. The journey we have embarked upon is very demanding and as such we must brace up to be able to meet these demands.
The God we are serving is a righteous God. Our God is a holy. Our God is pure. Our God is faithful. Our God is merciful. Our God is a loving. Our God is kind. Our God is caring God. Our God is a gracious God. It is really very hard; in fact impossible to describe our God or enumerate His great attributes. It is practically very impossible.
The believer who wants or desires to become God’s favourite and His champion must look at these attributes of God and aspire and work towards developing them in himself. At this stage or level, there are many things that must never be associated with a believer like this.
Some believers who were once firebrand have been brought down and made lukewarm or even stone cold because of some moments of carelessness and spiritual complacency, whereby some are struggling or have even backslidden today. This is because there were certain things they took for granted and Satan took advantage of those mistakes and cornered them.
God is a God of order. There are certain things some believers do not understand and sometimes because of this ignorance, they go against the word of God. God commands us for example, to honour those in authority in the land, e.g. The Government: We owe it a duty to respect and honour the government of our country and should, as such, obey the laws of the land which do not go against the word of God. The following are some of what the word of God commands us to do:
PAYING OUR TAXES:
What does the word of God say about the presidents, governors, and others who have the rule over us? It says, “For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid, for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him for evil…For for this cause pay ye tributes, (taxes) also for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due, custom to whom custom, fear to whom fear, honour to whom honour…”.
EVASION to pay TAX should not be associated with a believer. Every believer including the self employed is commanded to pay his taxes to the government. The various arms of government depend on our tax to run the affairs of the country. So, deliberately failing to pay our dues either by hook or crook is an offense against the government and a sin against God.
PAY CUSTOM to whom custom is due. There are many custom duties that business houses are supposed to pay to government coffers for funding and running of government establishments like the ports; airports, seaports, land borders, etc. It should never be mentioned that believers who are business owners, importers, manufacturers and exporters, or any businesses for that matter, are found wanting in the discharge of their duties of paying their dues to the government.
LEVIES: There are many levies that federal, states and local governments charge businesses and individuals for various reasons. Every true believer that engages in businesses or other transactions that require the payment of levies is expected to pay accordingly, anything contrary should never be mentioned in the life of any believer.
TARIFFS and DUTIES: If you are a manufacturer, importer or exporter or any type of merchant, as a believer, you are required to obey the law of the land in the area of paying the necessary custom tariffs and duties as they apply to you and your line of trade
just as any other person doing business in the land is required to. Trying to evade paying your tax and customs tariffs and duties is an offense against the law of the land and a disobedience to the word of God. As a matter of fact, you the believer, should be the first to pay these dues and obtain our genuine receipts and clearance certificates and or other evidences as proofs that you have been faithful in this regard.
DRIVING AGAINST TRAFFIC and DISOBEYING TRAFFIC RULES:
Some believers contravene traffic rules and regulations in the land. This is not proper. You know that it is wrong to drive against traffic, yet you go ahead and do it and when you are apprehended by the police, you begin to tell them that you are a pastor or whatever. It ought not so to be. Making excuses for flouting the law of the land is even sacrilegious as a true believer, to say the least. It is shameful to get involved in such misdemeanors.
Lasciviousness, Lust, Adultery, Fornication: Should a believer get involved in any of these? An emphatic no is the answer. “Thou shalt not commit adultery (fornication), is a clear command to whoever claims to be a believer. What does it entail to be an adulterer or fornicator? Jesus answers “But I say unto you, that whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart”. This is the standard laid down by the Lord Himself for all believers. Just lusting after the opposite sex in the heart is equal to the actual act and therefore amounts to adultery (fornication).
Can you boldly beat your chest and call yourself a true believer if your heart is filled with lustful thoughts towards the opposite sex? Of course, you can’t. By God’s standard for the believer, you are an adulterer or fornicator if you are like that. It simply means that you don’t necessarily have to jump into the bed with the opposite sex before you can commit adultery or fornication. It can be done right there in the heart. As true believers, habits like this should not be named in our life.
Forgery and Perjury: The Import, Export and Clearing and Forwarding Businesses are businesses where the use of different types of local and international documents are required. Those who are in these businesses are in one way or the other engaging in different types of forgery. These are some of the businesses I will not advise a believer to get involved in because of the high tendency to forge documents.
For the Clearing and Forwarding Agents, all sorts of alterations are made in documents for various ulterior reasons. If you are a believer engaging in any of these businesses, remember that you are called unto holiness and righteousness and truth in all its ramifications, clean hands and a pure heart before God and man. Forgery, false declaration of goods, and falsification of documents in any business should therefore never be once mentioned among us that have become saints.
We must keep our hands clean. Others may be doing it, yes. But we are not others. We must not join the multitude to commit sin. We must be different and fear God in reverence to His name and person.
Just Measurements: Are you a believer and you are in the buying and selling business and you sell food items like Beans, Rice, Garri, Frozen Food and the likes? You must live above board. Many traders in this line of business indulge in all sorts of manipulative and false measurements and weights. They believe that they are being smart and wise but that is not true.
God frowns at false measurements, false weights and selling of fake and expired products. There are God’s rules and regulations governing this line of business. The magic cups and altered scales people use to measure the food items they sell to their unsuspecting customers are against the commandment of God in this regard. God commands us and says: “Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight or in measurement. Just balances, just weights, a just ephah and a just hin shall ye have: I am the LORD your God…”
A true believer should be able to do his business honestly; keeping his integrity, honouring God who gives us the power to get wealth in the right way. We must not do the wrong thing because others are doing it and “prospering” in it. We must be different from others and remember that “There is a way that seemeth right unto a man but the end thereof are the ways of death” and “A Little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked”. And finally, “What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul?”
Think about it. What excuse will you give to God and be justified for knowingly, consciously and deliberately selling frozen fish that has spoilt and therefore no more fit for consumption to your customer? You knew that that food item has spoilt and no more fit for consumption, yet you went ahead and sold it to your unsuspecting customer just because you want to maximize profit. The fact that that customer; your fellow human being, could consume the rotten fish or chicken and fall sick and, even possibly die, meant nothing to you.
No, we must not be among those that do this type of thing because we understand better and God the Judge is watching us.
