Lusting or lust is defined as sensual desire, passionate desire or to have passionate desire. In the context of this writing, I will safely add that lust means to have sensual or passionate desire for the opposite sex.
Lust is a feeling which if not addressed or controlled and dealt with instantly, could become a full blown habit which will be very difficult to break.
What does the Bible says about this problem? Let us see the book of Saint. Mark 7:20 – 23: the Lord Jesus says in these verses: “…That which cometh out of the man that defileth the man. For from within, out of the hearts of men proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within and defile the man”.
Lasciviousness or lust, is clearly listed among the evil things the Lord mentioned can defile a man. These are the words of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself.
Let us see another chapter of the Bible and find out what it says about lasciviousness (lust). Galatians 5: 19 – 21, “Now, the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, Witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and su h like. They which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God”.
The Lord Jesus also speaking on this same issue or habit of lust stated clearly that “… Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart” (Matthew 6:28). This particular statement by the Lord is the clearest of all and very plain.
I have taken time to refer to these Bible portions so that we can all see and understand the seriousness and the consequence of forming the habit of lusting after the opposite sex.
Looking at the passage on Matthew 6:28, you will agree with me that many people have the ability to undress a woman or man right in their hearts and commit adultery or fornication with them just in their heart through their lustful imaginations.
The Lord Jesus who knows about us more than we know ourselves, says that one can commit adultery or fornication right in the heart. And if the Lord says so, and we have read in various parts of the Bible that adulterers and adulteresses, and fornicators will not inherit the kingdom of God, should we close our eyes and mouths and ignore the issue of the lusts of the heart?
It means that adultery and fornication, whether done practically in done in the heart, feeling or imagination are condemnable offences against God and it is punishable by death in hell fire, if not repented and permanently done away with.
We read about rapes on the pages of newspapers, hear of them over the radio and television and even on the internet. The question is, what leads one to commit rape? In most cases, the answer is the lust of the heart. It starts from the heart.
A good Bible Scholar will remember how the house of king David became a battle ground of hate, murder, destruction, rebellion and war. Absalom killed his elder brother Amnon because of the sin of lust, which led him (Amnon) to rape his half sister, Tarma.
It all started when Amnon began to lust after Tarma, Absalom’s sister of the same mother. The lusting was so intense, the Bible reported that Amnon fell sick. Not knowing what to do and how to control himself and deal with the evil feeling, he consulted with and mentioned his problem to Abinadab his cousin.
Abinadab was the son of one of king David’s brothers. The Bible described Abinadab as a subtle individual. He was the one who counselled Amnon to have forceful carnal knowledge of his own sister.
Amnon bought the idea and raped his sister. Tarma was the younger sister of Absalom from the same mother by king David, while Amnon was the first child of king David from another wife.
When Absalom heard what had been done to his sister, he was very angry, but pretended otherwise. After many days, Absalom organised a party and invited all the king’s sons, including Amnon his elder brother.
It was at that party that Absalom organised some bad guys to kill Amnon and they killed him.
Apart from the sins of fornication, adultery, rape, murder which are all the hallmarks of lust, there are other consequences of lust which many people do not know, understand or realise.
One thing anyone who has formed this habit must know right away is that as long as such a person continues to indulge in the habit, there are many good things he or she cannot receive from God. There are many blessings and breakthroughs which God will never release to such a person.
A person whom Satan has programmed some satanic video stations where all sorts of immoral images or pictures are constantly being played can never hear the voice of the Holy Spirit.
Such a person will be caged by evil powers and remain their victim forever. Many men and women have remained stagnant in life, not achieving any reasonable success in life all because of immoral thoughts and motion pictures they have allowed their enemy to fill their hearts with.
The enemy will have every right to do anything they like to such a person because he has yielded his heart as a workshop to the devil and, believe it or not, God will not do anything about that person’s case unless he or she realises himself or herself and cries to God in repentance.
God is holy and of a purer eye than to behold iniquity. The sinfulness in the heart jeeps God away from the presence of a sinner, especially those whose hearts are not pure before God.
Just as the habit of lust leads to adultery and fornication, it also leads to the habit of masturbation. If you check very well, you will agree that before you engaged in the act of masturbating, you would have been arrested by that lustful thought and imagination.
There is no special thing to do to be delivered from lust than to reject it outrightly. Do not allow it in at all. When the devil brings any evil thought it picture into your heart, you must flush it out immediately with the blood of Jesus and the word of God.
Do not give room to evil or lustful thought, imagination or picture into your heart at all. Allow the word of God to dwell richly in your heart. Allow the Holy Spirit to dwell in your your heart. Allow the love of God, not lust of the flesh and eye; love of God must fill your heart and saturate it every moment of the day.
When you begin to live your life this way, you will discover that God is real and very loving. When you give Him a place in your heart, He will come in and begin to manifest Himself in your life.
Are you ready to allow God to take His place in your life? Flush out all those lusts and evil pictures and cleanse your heart with the blood of Jesus. Then invite God and see what will happen.
All those pictures and naked men and women you hang in your rooms, the ones you downloaded from the internet and those from pornographic magazines must be destroyed.
You cannot have those pictures around you and think you can have a clean hand and a pure heart. It is not possible. Remove and destroy them outrightly. Burn them to ashes.
Do not meddle with the sons and daughters of Jezebel outside there. Do not let them intimidate you with their near nude and satanic attires. Detest them and shut their pictures out of your sight and mind.
Challenge their seductive and suggestive gestures with the blood of Jesus and the word of God. Keep your thought, imaginations and mind pure before God and God will surely make your life prosperous.
